What is Fan Controlled Football?
The first sports league to be managed by fans is Fan Controlled Football (FCF), a professional 7-on-7 indoor football competition founded in 2017. Every game is aired on Twitch, NBCLX, DAZN, FuboTV, and Peacock and is played at the Pullman Yards in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, the first fan-controlled professional sports franchise, and the Colorado Crush, which played in the Indoor Football League in 2017 before Project Fanchise pulled both teams from the competition, were founded by Project Fanchise.
While coaches are paid $3,500 per month with lodging and a meal plan, players are paid a weekly minimum of $400 plus room and board. In March 2021, FCF CEO Sohrob Farudi announced that the league would run two seasons annually.
Why is Fan Controlled Football Popular?
FCF is an indoor football league with games played on a 50-yard pitch growing from four teams to eight in its second season. The conventional offensive formation consists of a quarterback, a super back, two wide receivers, and three linemen in a 7-on-7 game.
Every Saturday, NBCLX and Twitch will webcast all four games, which last around an hour each. At 1 p.m., the first session begins with a doubleheader. ET and the second session starts at 7 p.m. ET with another doubleheader. ET.
The Glacier Boyz vs. Beasts match and the Knights of Degen vs. Bored Ape FC match will start the upcoming nine-week season on April 16. The season contains seven regular-season weeks and one playoff week, concluding in the People’s Championship.

They are utilizing technology that enables spectators to serve as long-distance coaches. The league’s one playbook can vary slightly based on team composition and player skill level. Coaches enter eligible plays based on down, distance, and game situation before each game.
Several running and passing plays are presented to the audience for voting before each down. An algorithm calculates which sports would be best for that particular situation. A stringer in the arena sends the chosen play to the team’s head coach and quarterback via headset after fans cast their votes. The system tabulates voting results in real-time.
For each successful play they choose, fans earn points that may be used to unlock badges and grow their FanIQ. FCF keeps track of fan statistics, honors a Most Valuable Fan, and displays leaders in yardage and touchdowns on a leaderboard. Votes from fans who have played the longest and most prosperous are given greater weight.
