What is Somnium Space
All metaverses are not made equal. Some are truly interactive encounters, and Somnium Space is just that. Somnium Space is a decentralized, free and open platform. Consumers can buy digital land, construct residential buildings, enjoy excitable console games, launch businesses, and host performances and live shows.
History
Somnium Space’s founder and CEO, Artur Sychov, launched the network in 2017 and made it available to consumers in Sept 2018. Since then, the Metaverse has been accessible through Steam. The game can be played via VR, PC, and online, as well as mobile.
Gameplay Features
Somnium space is a virtually generated real estate world-building metaverse. Experienced primarily in a first-person setting, players can expect to socialize, create, and play games with one another.
Builder
If you own LAND, creating in Somnium Space is incredibly straightforward and does not need any technical skills. The drag and drop designer is included with the program that may be downloaded via Steam. The incredibly simple video and audio features that add a great, professional experience to every setting are what set this builder apart.
You can construct elaborate buildings, sculptures, towers, and whatever else comes to mind on your property or test land. Do so using the Builder Tool—no need to program or to attend a 3D modeling Bootcamp. More experienced developers can use the “Unity SDK.” They may utilize it to post full-body avatars, create elaborate setups, integrate motions, and eventually drag and drop all this into their property.
The overall content creation experience in the Somnium Space metaverse is pretty seamless. There are very few constraints to observe when constructing on your parcel of land. Somnium Space imposes these constraints to ensure the best performances. In the bottom right corner, you can find a small block tagged “Credit Counter”. The credit is determined by the complexity of the object, and you cannot surpass your credit meter.
Marketplace
Somnium Space does not have a dedicated marketplace and instead relies on the popular third-party NFT marketplace, OpenSea. Here, you’ll find a collection of NFT land plots that come in varying sizes, along with WORLDS, and even Avatar NFTs.
How to Earn
Players can earn CUBE, the game’s native cryptocurrency, by purchasing and selling land parcels and creating NFTs. Somnium Space cosmetics can be traded over Ethereum, Polygon, or Solana blockchains. These cosmetics can also be sold via online shops within the game. Another option is to create NFT tickets that allow access to amusement parks or concerts that are hosted inside the Somnium Space Metaverse.
